Few daily kitchen tasks should require one-use items like paper towels, paper plates or plasticware. These items go straight into the trash and are a drain on your wallet. Put some hand towels in the kitchen for drying hands. Use a sponge to clean up spills on the countertop and stove. Reuse long-lasting plates and bowls for cooking preparation. Soiled hand towels can go into the laundry basket. The sponge can be desanitized in the microwave. The plates can be rinsed in the sink. Also consider old clothing for rags and newspapers for a good, lint-free alternative when cleaning windows and mirrors.
