While TSA only allows liquids in 3oz containers, they do allow empty bottles through security. Finish your water before you go through security but keep the water bottle. Then, fill up at the water fountain on the other side and avoid overpriced airport drinks.

bring snacks too
good point about the water bottles. i always bring snacks on flights too because not all airlines feed you any more, and it's too expensive in the airport!
