CFL (light bulb) savings calculator

CFL (Compact Fluorescent Light) bulbs savings calculator provided by Energystar.gov.

Use the link below to download an Excel file to calculate savings from switching your conventional incandescent bulbs to energy-saving CFLs.

You provide inputs and the calculator figures out your savings based on:

• Number of units (bulbs) and their wattage
• Electricity rate (they provide a default of $0.113/kWh)
• Hours used per day
• Initial cost per unit (they provide assumptions of $3.40 for a CFL, $0.60 for a traditional bulb)

The calculator is easy to use and it's a great way to see how fast the savings build.
