Make sure to have a properly inflated spare tire and jack, jumper cables, engine coolant and motor oil in your trunk, in case of any small emergencies. It is wise to also have items like a flashlight, first aid kit and reflective cone or sign. A full list can be found at Edmunds.com. An AAA membership or roadside service plan can be useful, but it's even cheaper and faster to be able to handle small roadside emergencies yourself.
