Babies are beautiful, bouncing little bundles of joy… who cost lots and lots of money.
We love those little tykes and gladly pay every penny they need for their care, but we’d also love to find a few ways to lighten the financial load and save a bit of money along the way—whether it’s $2.00 off diapers or hundreds off baby food.
With that in mind, here are our Top 4 Tips to Save on Baby Food, Gear & More!
1. Use Coupons
Never pay full price for anything! Seriously, coupons will help you save $100’s of dollars every year. Here are a couple of our current favorites:
- $4.00 Off Huggies Diapers
- $2.00 Off Huggies Pull-Up Training Pants
- Find 50+ more baby coupons on food, diapers, wipes and more.
To make sure you never miss out on the coupons you want, use LOZO. Just enter the items you want at LOZO.com and you’ll receive an email when matching coupons are available. It doesn’t get much easier than that!
Or, browse 1,400 coupons in LOZO’s easily searchable coupon gallery.
2. Join Rewards Programs
When you find a brand you and your baby like—join their rewards programs! It’s one of the easiest ways to get the best deals. Here are a few of our favorites:
Whatever your brand of choice, see if they have a rewards program and take advantage of it!
3. Hand-Me-Downs Are Like Winning the Lottery
A small lottery, sure, but it can really add up. When we had our first child, we were surprised (very, very pleasantly surprised!) at how many family members, colleagues, friends, and friends of friends offered us clothes, toys, books and gear. It easily saved us hundreds of dollars.
To start, buy the essential items you’ll need to make your new baby comfortable, but hold off on the rest until you’ve gotten a sense of what freebies are coming your way. If your family and friends don’t have a lot of hand-me-downs to offer, look into local mom’s group for swaps and items for sale at lower costs.
And, remember to “pay it forward”! When the time comes, pass your stuff on to another new parent.
4. Be Smart When Buying Diapers
As any parent will tell you… diapers are expensive. We’ve already mentioned using coupons and joining rewards programs as a way to cut your costs—those should be your first steps in lowering your diaper costs. Beyond that, however, here are a few other tips that will save you some more money:
- Focus on the cost per diaper, not the cost per package. Diapers come in all package sizes and quantities, making it hard to find the best deal at a quick glance. By focusing on the cost per diaper, you’ll know you’re getting the best deal.
- Bulk is usually—but not always—the best deal. Again, focus on the cost per diaper to make sure you’re getting the best deal.
- Consider store brand diapers. They’re often overlooked as an option, but—if your baby ends up liking them—they’ll be easier on your wallet.
Now that we’ve helped you save a few bucks… go and spend some time with your kids!
