Pollution, road salt and sludge can damage the body of any car and lead to costly repairs. Without regular washing, rust can form on the bottom of doors within a few years, followed by corrosion under the body of the car. Since rust-related repairs can cost thousands of dollars, it is simple and frugal to wash your car regularly and to be on the lookout for any rust before it becomes a bigger issue. This is especially important in salty areas – near ocean or gulf shorelines where road sand and dew are salty – and in snowy areas, where road salt can wreak havoc on the underside of cars.
