Do enough research before you buy a cell phone or commit to a cell phone plan, so you have a good idea of what you need and want.

If you rarely access the internet from your phone, you don’t need a huge data plan. If you hardly ever text, you don’t need unlimited texting. And so on. Salespeople will try to sell you the whole kit and caboodle, but don’t be seduced by features you don’t need.
