The cost of sending a text can vary between 10 to 25 cents per text, either sent or received. That may seem like a modest amount, but they add up quick when you’re sending/receiving hundreds of texts each month, every month.
If you’re paying per text, you need to limit this as best you can.
First, tell your friends to call or email you instead of texting all the time. Often what takes five back-and-forth texts can be just as easily organized with a good, old fashioned, two-minute phone call (for a much lower cost). Limit texts to times when phone calls are not appropriate.
If you text a lot, consider a text message bundle, where you get a certain amount of free texts for a flat fee each month, or an unlimited text plan. (Note that international texts are generally not included in those bundles).
