Keeping a thermostat at 68 degrees or less is a great way to save money on heating costs. If you’re walking around the house in a T-shirt, the heater is up too high. It’s winter, so put on a sweater and a pair of slippers to keep warm. Also, remember to turn the heater down or off when no one will be home; it is pointless for a heater to heat an empty house all day. Leave a “turn off the heater” reminder note at the door. Likewise, turn the heater down or off at night, when everyone is cuddled under blankets sleeping.
