If you’re buying directly from a reputable electronics manufacturer or a site like Amazon, this shouldn’t be an issue. However, if you branch out from there, you should definitely do research before making the purchase. When possible, read other consumer’s comments, particularly on sites like eBay where they provide ample feedback and will even give the seller a score. If that’s not an option, check with the Better Business Bureau to make sure the seller is an upstanding one. You can also enter the company’s name into a search engine such as Google and see if any volatile articles come up. If you do find negative reviews of the company, dig further. One bad review doesn’t need to be a deal-breaker. If you find ten, twenty or oh-say a thousand of them, then you should avoid that seller.
