ENERGY STAR is a government program designed to help consumers save money on appliances and protect the environment by identifying energy-efficient products. Appliances with the ENERGY STAR label will typically use from 10-50% less energy than their counterparts, saving hundreds of dollars in electricity and/or water bills throughout their use. If an ENERGY STAR appliance has a higher retail sales price, it might still save money in the long run by being more energy efficient, therefore saving money on electricity and water bills. ENERGY STAR rated appliances include refrigerators, freezers, washing machines, air conditioning units, dishwashers and dehumidifiers.
