While it might seem backward to rush out and buy a blockbuster movie just released to DVD, this is when they are often cheapest. They usually have a special sale price for the first few weeks of their release on DVD. However, for independent or art house films, waiting will pay off, as the price tends to drop after they have been out for a while. Be sure to shop around to see what stores offer the best prices. And don’t forget to include alternative distribution channels such as On Demand, iTunes and Xbox for movie purchases.
