Some parents go over-the-top for their kids’ birthdays with ponies and clowns or other bank account-drainers. But just as much fun can be had in a simple and inexpensive setting. Have a birthday party in the park – the venue is free, allows for easy clean-up, and provides for natural entertainment for the kids.
If having a party at home – keep the decorations simple. Make them together with your child, using glitter, glue and construction paper. For food – stick to just cake or cupcakes instead of a full meal – the cake is always the highlight for the kids anyway. Consider a slumber party with 2 or 3 close friends instead of a giant party. And finally, make your own fun – play freeze-dance or limbo or set up games in the backyard. You don’t have to spend a fortune to have a memorable child’s birthday party.
