The up-front cost of an espresso machine and grinder can be significant – that is undeniable. You might find an inexpensive machine for under $100, if you can’t really taste the difference. However, even good quality espresso machines that cost upwards of $500 can pay for themselves in less than a year, if you are a daily coffee drinker. At $4 per day the cost of those lattes can be $1,000 per year, and a good espresso machine should last a lot longer than that. Of course if regular drip coffee is enough to satisfy you, you can save much more with a basic coffee maker.
