Gone are the days when big DJ companies were necessary for weddings. Instead, see if the reception venue has a good sound system where you can plug in your iPod/MP3 player. Then, pre-program your wedding music and just let it run on the day. Ask a friend to be the MC to announce the couple at the reception. If you do want to go with a professional, see if the DJ or band will give a discount for performing at both the ceremony and reception. Or consider having a violinist or other musician for your walk down the aisle, and then go with your own iPod tunes for the reception.
