Because it is so common for travelers to cancel car reservations, companies like Hertz and Budget both offer significant savings when booking a nonrefundable, pre-pay fare on their websites. Although the obvious downside is that you cannot cancel your reservation, if your trip is firm, it is a terrific way to save money on car rental.
