Keep cool with air conditioning when driving on the highway, but lower the windows instead in the city to improve gas mileage & save money. Using air conditioning in stop-and-go city traffic wastes fuel and, therefore, money. But crank it up on the highway, when it is actually more fuel-efficient than open windows. When driving at those faster speeds, open windows actually increase air resistance and worsen gas mileage enough to make it more cost-effective to use the air conditioning.
