Extended warranties can be great for peace of mind, but the reality is they’re not the best way to spend your money. Why? We’ll give you three reasons:
1. Manufacturer’s warranties already give you basic coverage at no additional cost.
2. Most brand name retailers build their products well enough these days that the extended warranty won’t ever be used.
3. In the unlikely event you need to do a repair after the manufacturer’s warranty has expired, the cost of the fix without the extended warranty is usually about the same as the cost of the extended warranty itself.
The LOZO: Your best bet is to skip the extended warranty and bank that money as a ‘rainy day’ repair fund.
