Napster (now part of Best Buy), Rhapsody, eMusic and others all offer monthly subscriptions that give you access to their nearly unlimited music collections. They also offer limited time free trials so you can try out the service, get access to your favorite songs, and decide if you want to pay to continue. This can be a great way to get access to tons of music for a cost that’s much lower than actually buying all the albums. Of course, if you want to own certain songs or albums, you will have to buy them. Satellite radio can also scratch this itch.
In some cases you might not be able to download all of the songs you want with a free trial. For example, eMusic only allows certain songs for free, and the others you’ll need to pay for. They also may not always stock the latest and greatest songs and artists, depending on licensing rights.
