The more credits a student can bring in to college, the cheaper a four-degree will be. Many high schools offer Advanced Placement (AP) courses, which will prepare students for tests that let them skip a college course or give credit for one. Likewise, some colleges allow students to take College Level Examination Program (CLEP) exams to receive college credit, especially in subjects like foreign language. Good students can skip up to a year’s worth of college classes through these advanced exams, which can mean a savings of thousands of tuition dollars.
