Samples are great not just because they are free, but they also help you tell what your child will happily use without having to buy products that end up going to waste. Your pediatrician’s office often will have samples of formula or baby food. If you don’t see any, ask the nurse or receptionist and oftentimes they may have a forgotten stash somewhere. Hospitals usually have lots of formula samples since companies are hoping your baby will get used to their brand and you will buy more later. Stock up on as much as they will offer you and reap the savings. Your OB/GYN may also have free pre-natal vitamins as samples. Get as many as you can to save about $1 per day, and refill each time you go back for a visit.
Your favorite brands will often send you samples if you sign up for their baby clubs, or even just by sending them a polite note. It’s worth signing up for all of them since samples usually come with coupons for additional savings. Sign up with Gerber/Nestle’s Good Start, Beech Nut, Earth’s Best, Happy Baby, Similac, and Enfamil or search Google for your favorite brand and look for their “Offers” or “Rewards”.
