Shakes and smoothies can be great for breakfast, but hard on the wallet. A store-made smoothie can cost more than $5 and often the ingredients are sugar laden with unnecessary calories. Consider buying your own ingredients (fresh or frozen fruit, yogurt, juice) and making smoothies at home in the blender. Drinks can be made in advance so they can be grabbed from the fridge if you rush out in the morning.
