Some shoppers don’t realize that companies pay for the shelf space their goods occupy in the grocery store. The shelves at eye level are more expensive because they are easier for shoppers to see. Be a smart buyer by looking all around the aisles for bargains that lurk on the bottom and top racks. Also, be aware that some products (e.g. beans, rice, spices) are available in more than one section of the supermarket. Look down the “ethnic” food aisle in your store to compare the price of imported goods to the famous brands.
