Put yourself in the seller’s shoes when you learn about what situation they are in. How much did they pay for the house, and are they going to make money on the sale? How much do they still owe, so how much will they put in their pocket? How much have similar houses in the neighborhood or down the street sold for (check Zillow.com)? A seller might want to feel like their house is worth as much as their neighbor’s. How many offers have they gotten, and how long has it been on the market? This might help you tell how anxious they are and how aggressive you can be on price.
