It’s tempting to try to save by squeezing a little more performance out of your appliances. However, overloading a washing machine is an invitation for a costly breakdown which will wash out any possible savings along the way. If you do need to replace the washing machine, consider a high-efficiency top loader, or a front-loader, which is kinder to clothes and uses less water.
