Dirt and soil can be removed from a mattress with upholstery shampoo, or mild detergent and water. Apply the soap suds to the soiled area with a warm sponge, scrub and then wipe clean. When washing, be careful not to let the interior padding of the mattress get wet. To dry the surface, point a fan directly at the mattress until it dries. Or, if it’s a warm day, the mattress can be dried quickly in the sun.
