Why spend money on an overpriced taxi when public transportation can be cheaper, more efficient and better for the environment? Many hotels, especially in big cities, are located within walking distance to public transportation, meaning you won’t have to worry about carrying your luggage for miles. Even if public transportation doesn’t extend all the way to the airport, airport shuttles are usually easy to find and still cheaper than a taxi – especially if you book a round-trip ticket. Just reconfirm the day before you fly to make sure the shuttle knows when to pick you up. Some hotels even have free airport pick-ups, so it’s always worth asking.
