The best baby guidebooks will save you way more than their cover price. A popular example is Baby Bargains. Consumer Reports has the Best Baby Products book as well. These are loaded with product reviews, checklists and other useful suggestions for saving on all the baby products you need. You'll come out even further ahead by borrowing the book from a friend or putting it on your baby registry. You can also try your local library to borrow a copy long enough to write down the products you'll want.

I found a copy of Baby Bargains at my library. It was a year out of date, but still really helpful.
