Baking soda or washing soda added to the wash can save a lot of laundry detergent. The minerals soften the water, increasing the power of the laundry detergent, so you’ll need to use less. Add ½ cup of soda at the beginning of the wash when using liquid detergent, or ½ cup of soda at the end of the wash if using powdered detergent. This works especially well if you have hard water. Search LOZO for more "raid the cabinet" ideas.
