The store's brand is a great substitute for many canned and boxed items. Generically-labeled vegetables, beans and pasta are often produced by the same manufacturer as their "name" brand counterparts. The quality difference is minimal and the taste is similar. Try a few less expensive alternate brands to see how they compare and you could see a large drop in your grocery bills. Some store brands even offer a satisfaction guarantee, which means you can return the product if you don't like the taste (check your store policies, usually listed at customer service).

Store brands
Not sure if it's just me, but I feel like the quality of store brand foods has greatly improved over the last few years. However, for many items, using a coupon and/or waiting for a sale on the name brand item often works out to be less expensive.
