Double pane windows are a wise investment for winter climates. They help hold warm air in the house and keep cold air out. If they you can't afford them right now, buy a cheaper, do-it-yourself kit from the hardware store to seal the inside of the windows with plastic. This, along with better insulation, can help keep heat in and lower heating costs. If investing in double pane windows, see if you are eligible for a tax credit.
